Real copy of Magna Carta found in Harvard, revealing historians.

New Delhi: In 1946, the US Harvard Law School bought an old and blurred ‘copy’. The price was just $ 27.50. At that time no one had an idea that these minor documents are actually the original version of one of the most important charters in history: Magna Carta. Now, the historians of Britain’s King’s College London and University of East Anglia have opened its secret. According to him, this is not a simple copy, but the real copy of ‘Magna Carta’ released by King Edward I in 1300 AD. Till date, only seven such copies were known. Now this eighth has come out.

What is Magna Carta?

For the first time in 1215, King John of England signed Magna Carta. This was the document that established for the first time that the king is not above the law. It was a charter laying the foundation of democracy and human rights. After this, Edward I released its last official version in 1300, which is called ‘Confirmation of the Charters’. How was it revealed?

Researchers found that the size of the document and the style of the letters written in it (eg ‘Edwardus’) is exactly the same as the remaining six real copies. Its handwriting, ink and paper texture also gives the same indication.

David Carpenter, professor of King’s College London, says, “This is not a blurred copy, but a real magna cart. That too at a time when its historical significance increased even more.

How special is this document?

This is the same Magna Carta that inspired the Declaration of Independence and Constitution of America. Many constitution and human rights laws are affected by this. This document has become a symbol of human freedom, not just paper.

How many were purchased?

In 1946, it was bought by the Library of Harvard Law School in $ 27.50. Today, they are about $ 470 (about ₹ 39,000). That is, an invaluable historical heritage was found in a few thousand. After this discovery, it is expected that Harvard will now restore this historical document and put it in front of the public.
