Two staff members of the Israeli embassy were shot dead outside the capital Jew Museum in Washington on Wednesday night.
Both the victims, a man and a woman, were leaving a program in the museum when a 30 -year -old suspect approached a group of four people and set fire, Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith said at a news conference.
The suspect, identified as Elias R from Chicago, said that Smith, elaborate by the event security, said that he was not known to the police earlier.
When he was taken into custody, the man started chanting, “free, free Palestine,” Smith said.
How has Israeli leaders reacted?
The attack in Gaza has taken place amidst the increasing international considering Israel’s military campaign.
The Palestinian Enclave, which began in October 2023, has increased dramatically antisemitic events in the war.
In a statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday night that “the terrible price of antisemitism and a wild provocation against the state of Israel.”
“My heart hurts for the dear young man and the woman’s families, whose life was suddenly shortened by a lowly anti -terrorist,” Heer said.
Netanyahu stated that he has an order “security agencies to strengthen the protection system of Israeli and increase the level of security for all the messengers of the state.”
Israeli Foreign Minister Gidon Said said that “is a straight line connecting anti -Israel and anti -Israel for this murder.”

Who was the victim?
The Israeli ambassador to the US said that the two victims were a couple. He was identified by the Israeli Foreign Ministry as Yaron Liscsky and Sara Lynn Milgrim.
German diplomatic sources said that Liscsky organized German citizenship. According to the German-Israel Society (DIG), he was original from Germany and partially grew up in Bavaria.
Liscsky was the founding member of the Israeli-Germany Youth Forum and took a position at the Israeli Embassy in Washington in 2022, said Dig.
We vow to punish those responsible for deadly shoots

Kalas wrote on X, “There should be no place for hatred, extremism, or opposing -opponent in our societies. I expand my condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Israel.”
