E-zero fir: The Government of India has recently started a new service called e-georo FIR. Its purpose is to strengthen cyber security and speed up the investigation of large cyber fraud. This system has currently started as a pilot project in Delhi and complaints of online fraud of more than Rs 10 lakh will automatically turn into FIR. With this initiative, the government aims to save time in immediate action and investigation on cyber criminals.
Complaints of cyber financial fraud of more than Rs 10 lakh will now be converted into FIR automatically. This facility will be applicable to complaints made on 1930 helpline or National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP). This new system has been launched as e-georo FIR, which has currently started as a pilot project in Delhi. Amit Shah said that this will make it possible for rapid investigation and action and criminals will be caught soon. In the coming time, this system will be implemented across the country.
The Home Minister wrote in his X (East Twitter) post that the Modi government is working fast in the direction of cyber safe India. This new system will play an important role in curbing cyber criminals.
What is e-georo FIR?
An official said that complaints of cheating of more than 10 lakhs lodged on NCRP and 1930 will now be automatically converted into zero FIR. This FIR will be registered at the e-crime police station in Delhi and then sent to the cyber police station of the concerned area. The complainant will have to go to the concerned cyber police station within three days and convert Zero FIR into a regular FIR. In this process, I4C (Indian Cyber Crime Cordination Center) has been added to the E-FIR system of Delhi Police, and the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network of NCRB.

This initiative has been initiated under sections 173 (1) and 1 (ii) of Bhartiya Nagaraik Suraksha Sanhita. The Delhi Police and I4C together have created this new system so that the money of the affected person can get back quickly and the criminals can get strict punishment.
