Harvard University update: A relief news has come out for Harvard University. The US court has stayed the decision of the Trump administration, in which there was a preparation to stop Harvard from admission of foreign students. This decision is considered not only a big victory for the future of Harvard but thousands of international students.
The matter began when the US Homeland Security Department issued an order to abolish the recognition of the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) of Harvard University. This decision meant that Harvard would not be able to enroll foreign students under F-1 visa.

But Harvard described it as a violation of the US Constitution directly and immediately filed a case in the federal court of Massachusetts. Then in a few hours, US District Judge Ellison Baro stopped this order of Trump administration.
What is SEVP for foreign students?
SEVP means Student and Exchange Visitor Program is an official system of America. Under this, foreign students can get a visa by taking admission in any recognized university. If this recognition of a university is abolished, then it cannot legally enroll students. This decision of the Trump government became a big concern for Harvard. Every year thousands of foreign students come to study here, in which students from India, China and Europe are in large numbers.

Why did the court give relief?
Judge Ellison Baro admitted that the government did not give any strong reason behind this decision nor was any process followed. The court said that such policy changes directly affect the rights of students, so no steps can be taken in haste. Under this temporary relief, now Harvard will continue to get visa facility for his foreign students till further orders.
There was a collision earlier also
This is not the first time that there has been such a dispute between Harvard and the US government over foreign students. In 2020 also during the Kovid epidemic, the Trump administration implemented a rule stating that students whose classes are online will not be allowed to live in America. Even then Harvard and MIT together filed a case in the court and the government had to retreat.
