Monsoon 2025: This time the monsoon has knocked prematurely in the country. After Kerala, the southwest monsoon has also reached Maharashtra ahead of time. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the southwest monsoon has reached Deogarh in South Konkan region of Goa, Maharashtra on 25 May and many parts of Karnataka. The monsoon usually comes around June 5 in Maharashtra, but this time it has entered the state 10 days ago.
Monsoon knocked in these areas
The IMD informed that the monsoon has so far reached some other parts of the west-central and east-central Arabian Sea, some areas of Goa, Maharashtra, some other parts of Karnataka, in addition to the Bay of West-Central and North Bengal, and parts of Mizoram, Manipur and Nagaland in Northeast India. The start of the monsoon ahead of time is considered to be the news of relief for farmers and those who monitor the weather.
Monsoon may reach Mumbai soon
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the southwest monsoon is expected to move forward in the next three days in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra. The Meteorological Department said that the weather remains completely favorable for the entry of monsoon in some other areas of Mumbai, Bangalore and Central Arabian Sea. IMD also stated that monsoon is expected to reach Andhra Pradesh, the remaining parts of Tamil Nadu, parts of the west-central and northern Bengal Bay and other parts of the Northeast India in the next few days. If the monsoon reaches Mumbai by May 28, it will be considered the most early monsoon knock, which will be a new record. Monsoon usually starts in Mumbai in the first week of June, but this time the situation is quite encouraging.
Monsoon record speed in Mumbai
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon in Mumbai this year may knock long before normal. Earlier, the monsoon in Mumbai first arrived on 29 May, which took place in 1956, 1962 and 1971. Apart from this, in 1990 and 2006 also the monsoon knocked in the city on 31 May. This time the monsoon speed is very fast. IMD reported that the monsoon entered Maharashtra within 24 hours of knocking in Kerala, which is unusual in itself. The monsoon usually takes three days to reach Maharashtra from Kerala. Earlier, only twice – 1971 and in 2012 – such a sharp progress was recorded. This high speed indicates that the monsoon can reach other parts of the country ahead of time, which is news of relief for farmers and common people.
