It is a mistake to look at politicians like Rockstars, regardless of their ideas.
Officials can speak Wonders of BTC, but you have to keep your guard up.
While the presentations of the recent Bitcoin Conference in Las Vegas continued for streaming, there was a detail that especially captured my attention: the effusive ovation to the vice president of the United States, JD Vance. As soon as he entered the enclosure, the official broke the ice with an absurd comment about the alleged affinity of the bitcoiners with the weapons.
Of course, I did not expect someone to dare to throw a banana peel or something like that, but the constant applause and cheers during their speech made me ask me, as a community, the bitcoiners have reached a point where we hope that politicians who take Bitcoin (BTC). Those who think so are making a serious mistake.
Some will argue two things: that we should not be hostile, that even from statism can arise positive things; and that it is only a matter of waiting for the right person or team.
About the first, It is not about hostility, but about maintaining a critical posture: Accept what benefits Bitcoin without losing sight of the fact that, tomorrow, circumstances can change. Politicians may be supporting the ecosystem not by conviction, but because they report economic, business or electoral benefits. It is one thing to recognize what is done well and stay on guard, and a very different one is to worship officials; It doesn’t matter its charisma level.
As for the second, it seems to me a fallacy that is perpetuated too often, especially within a representative universal democracy system that is full of chiaroscuros. There are countries in which, although it is possible to change the party, economic policies remain intact due to the power of lobbies. And not to mention the single party regimes, where it is common for ideas to remain stagnant for decades.
Instead of spending years waiting for the change to come from above, it is much more productive to boost it from below. A phrase from Juan Bautista Alberdi, one of the founding parents of the Argentine Constitution of 1853: “If the countries did not have another manufacturer of their wealth than their governments, all nations would be in misery”; That is, if to shape the future we must cross our fingers waiting for some politician to do it for us, then we will die waiting.
At what time, to cite only two examples, Trump or Milei became the guarantors of freedom, those chosen to direct the fate of millions that, otherwise, would supposedly not have salvation? Of course, if they have made promises that can benefit in an organic and sustained way to foot citizens, the logical thing is to demand that they fulfill them and assess that they do it.
What is alarming is the cult of the figure of these individuals and the members of their teams. In the case of Bitcoin, Sometimes it seems that many are convinced that their future depends on Trump remaining in poweror that someone very similar takes over … nothing is further from reality.

The danger of blindly trusting politics
From the time of Julio César until today, we know that the disruptive political figures usually emerge when others have failed, but that does not mean, regardless of what they promise, that we must grant them a blind faith – especially because they are often proclaimed as anti -system emissaries, and end up adding their ranks to officials who have been within the state apparatus.
Seeing an endless parade of politicians in the Bitcoin Conference – which were reported from cryptootics – already supposed bitcoiners by cheering them with enthusiastic applause and whistles, it was a scene as disconcerting as revealing.
It is important to remember that Trump is not acting moved by a sudden concern for those who are fed up with the state apparatus and their persecutory policies. He does it because, for now, many of his interests – and those of his environment, advisors and allies – are partially aligned with those of the community. This can generate advances, yes, but it should never be a reason to lower your guard. On the contrary, you have to always sustain a critical look and rigorously evaluate each measure that is launched.
In times of confusion and promises of all kinds, thinking with its own head becomes more urgent than ever. Politics never deserves devotion, only surveillance. We must celebrate what works, demand results, and always keep in mind that any support for power must have clear limits and be evaluated coldly.
Fanaticism – even when he disguises himself as hope – is the fertile terrain where the worst betrayals germinate. If we really aspire to a healthy future for BTC, we need less heroes and more critical bitcoiners; Less grandiloquent speeches and more concrete actions that reinforce individual sovereignty, without asking permission or giving their own trial on the road.
