The US Donald Trump administration has given 30 days relief in the Harvard University case. According to Reuters, the Trump administration has retreated from the plan to cancel the university’s ability to enroll international students. Instead, now the university has been given 30 days to challenge the plan of Trump administration through long administrative process. The US Department of Homeland Security on Wednesday sent a notice to Harvard University regarding the withdrawal of school certification to enroll non-American students under a Federal Program.
On May 22, the Trump administration ordered the cancellation of the eligibility of Harvard University’s eligibility to admission to foreign students with immediate effect. After this, news came that the university sued the Trump administration for this ban. The Federal Judge then prohibited the decision of the Trump administration to impose this ban.
Notice filed in court before hearing
According to a new report by Reuters, the Department of Justice filed a notice in the court before the hearing before the US District Judge Ellison Baroj in Boston. The Trump administration discussed about extending the temporary order preventing the IV League school’s authority to host international students. In that hearing, Beroz said that he has decided to issue a comprehensive initial prohibition to maintain the status quo until the newly declared administrative process.

Harvard’s argument
Harvard had argued that cancellation of his eligibility to enroll international students is a violation of his free speech and du process rights under the US Constitution. In addition, Harvard argued that the cancellation failed to follow the DHS rules. According to the rules, there is a provision to give at least 30 days to challenge the allegations of the agency in the case and get a chance to make a chance to make administrative appeal to Harvard. Harvard has said that losing the right to enroll international students will affect about a quarter of the students and the school will be destroyed.
