The new Chancellor of Germany has already made it clear that support for Ukraine is one of their top priorities. Center-Right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) leader Frederick Merz made Kiev one of his first stop as the head of the government. Hey protesters began their efforts to shore to Ukraine for Ukraine against Ukraine invaders, as well as leaders from Britain, France and Poland.
The German Council on Foreign Relationship’s Henning Half told DW, “For Merz, continuous support for Ukraine is his foreign policy lynchpin. He wants to ensure that if possible, Russian threat to Europe, stops in Ukraine,” Hening Half said on foreign relationships.
The Ukrainian President Volodimier Zelansky is now in Berlin once again. This is his first visit, which was sent to Mars from his predecessor, Olaf Sholaz.
At a joint press conference after the talks, Merz promised to help Ukraine to purchase long -range missiles. The objective was joint production. It can occur in both Ukraine and Germany. There will be “no range restrictions” for such weapons, and “Ukraine can use them to completely defend completely, even against military goals outside his own area,” Merz said.
The Starlinks for Germany Ukraine want to continue an important part of the satellite communication system, Merz said. The system is operated by the aerospace company SpaceX, established by the US Tech billionaire Elon Musk.
“Generally, the new German government seems to be more inclined to take more risk and puts more pressure on Russia,” Hening Half said, with its colleagues.
Taurus missile debate
When it comes to German weapons, Merz has set Hemelfa for a long time from her predecessor. As the Leader of the Opposition, Merz repeatedly spoke in favor of delivery of the long-range Taurus missiles of Germany. Former Chancellor Sholaz, however, strictly against it, will be pulled forward with Russia for fear of Germany.
Since assuming office, Merz questioned Taurus, saying that “strategic ambiguity” was necessary.
“It’s good if Putin is not clear about what we are supplying,” in Bundestag, Parliagenary Group Leader Jens Span of Conservative Block told the public broadcaster. ZDF,
Ukraine is still hoping to give long -range weapons to Germany, Zelansky said at a press conference on Wednesday in Berlin in response to a journalist’s question. “Surely we need them, of course we will discuss the issue,” said the Ukrainian President.
Empty threats are reversed
During his visit to Ukraine, four European leaders gave Russia to Russia to agree to a 30-day ceasefire. In the event of refusal, he threatened new sanctions. However, Russia not only passed the deadline, but started some of the most violent attacks on civil goals since the onset of war. And yet there were no results, as four leaders planned to implement restrictions with US banking, which was not physical.
In the next days, Merz left confidence in a solution at the conversation table. Wars are usually finished through economic or military exit of one or both sides, they said during a visit to Finland on Tuesday. “We are still moving a long way to it. That is why I hope we may have to prepare for a longer period,” Mars said.
Trump: ‘Putin has gone mad’
At the same time, there is some movement in European-American discussions. Till some time ago, US President Donald Trump made it clear that he wanted to talk peacefully in Ukraine with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Ukraine.
But now Trump looks ostracized with the Russian leader. After a large -scale new Russian aerial attack on the Ukrainian residential area, Trump wrote on his true social platform: “He is absolutely crazy!” The President reduced Putin’s clear desire for the entire Ukraine. “IIT will lead to Russia’s collapse!” Trump announced.
This fuel hopes in Berlin and Kiev that Trump can still be won on a joint approach. Can he do Suk tree? “This is truly a multi-dollar question,” said Hening Half. “Irregular US President Putin is a fan.
This bee could be a big masal on the part of Putin, the half explained.
However, both Zelanski and Merz fear that the US under Trump may fully turn on Ukraine and peace process at any time. The question will be whether the European can carry the burden alone. “Even if it’s difficult: they have to do,” said Half.
Merz and Zelancesi are liked this way to continue trying to put Trump on board. Frederick Merz wants to travel his inauguration at the White House soon. Ukrainian and German leaders still hope that they can convince the US President to continue Ukraine’s support.
