As part of the fourth simplification internal package, the EU Commission has submitted suggestions for de-burdomatization in product legislation. These also concern the regulation (EU) 2016/425 on personal protective equipment (PSA). The associations German Fashion Modeverband Deutschland e. V., the interest network personal protective equipment e. V. (IVPS) and the Federal Association of Shoe and Leather Ware Industry e. V. (HDS/L) basically support the suggestions. However, they criticize that the current design is behind the possibilities for digitization.
According to the associations, the PSA regulation in particular must be geared towards digital manufacturer information. This is the only way to actually implement the desired effect – paper savings through digital instructions for use. “According to the applicable EU regulations for personal protective equipment with products for u. “This environmental pollution as well as financial and personnel burdens from the medium-sized German PSA industry has long been overdue.”
Torben Schütz, deputy general manager of the HDS/L, also emphasizes the potential of savings: “Paper savings of more than 320 tons per year are possible for German manufacturers in the foot and leg protection segment.” However, the planned regulations limited the digital solution to the B2B area. “In order for the necessary real paperless communication possible, B2B and B2C must be thought together.”
The associations therefore ask the EU Commission to specifically revise the proposals in the current procedure. This is the only way to digitize product law an effective contribution to sustainability, resource conservation and relief for industry.
