India Pakistan Ceasefire Donald Trump: Trump’s tariff policy played an important role in India Pakistan ceasefire court

New York: The team of US President Donald Trump has once again claimed that his tariff policy played an important role in ceasefire between India and Pakistan. During the hearing in a New York court on Wednesday, Trump administration officials said that Trump used the business tariff as a diplomatic pressure, which reduced tension in India and Pakistan. The Trump administration even argued to remove the ban from the tariff that the ceasefire could break if the ban does not go away. Also, global security will be in danger. For the present, the Trump administration has got stay and on the same day the US appeal court lifted the ban on Trump’s tariff. However, India has rejected this claim outright.

US Commerce Minister Howard Lutnik said in the court that Trump persuaded India and Pakistan to stop the military action by offering to increase trade. Lutnik warned that if the tariff is banned, this ceasefire could be in danger, which will damage the security of South Asia. He also said that due to tariff, business talks with countries like China went ahead.

India responded to America

India rejected Trump’s claims. Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said in Delhi on Thursday, “There was a conversation between the leaders of India and America from the commencement of operation vermilion on May 7 to the ceasefire on May 10, but there was no mention of trade or tariff.” He made it clear that the ceasefire between India and Pakistan was decided by direct talks between DGMO of both countries. Jaiswal also reiterated that any conversation between India and Pakistan will be bilateral only.

Court U-turn on tariff

On Wednesday, the International Trade Court of New York banned Trump’s ‘Liberation Day’ tariff and banned it. The court said that Trump misused the Emergency Power Act of 1977. However, before 24 hours passed, on Thursday, Washington’s Federal Circuit Appeal Court accepted Trump’s appeal and allowed Tariff to be implemented at present. Trump’s team argued that tariffs are necessary for national security.

Trump’s policy of tariffs was challenged by small businessmen in the US in court. He says that Trump misuses the emergency power to impose tariffs on many countries, causing the market to become unstable.
