The latest steps by the Eastern European country to strengthen its position in the European Union, thousands of people gathered in Bulgaria capital Sophia and other major cities on Saturday to reject the country’s plans to adopt the country’s plans.
Critics of the move are demanding that the government asks for a referendum whether the country should leave Lev and adopt the Euro as its currency.
It was admitted to the Schengen region, along with Romania months after Bulgaria.
In Sophia, protesters took the flags of the Russian supporters Vazrazhaden Party. A big banner read “The Battle for the Bulgarian is the last battle for Lev Bulgaria.”
Civic groups and nationalist parties organized a protest, raising slogans like “The Future from Hellow States”, singing patriotic songs.
Bulgaria, which joined the European Union in 2007 and its poorest members, are expected to receive approval from Brussels in June to adopt the euro.
Dissolution campaign stoke fear
The euro will damage the economy of Bulgaria, which after years of institutes of institutes, many people have motivated to oppose the upcoming changes.
Several recent surveys revealed that about half of them said they opposed Bulgaria, who joined Eurozone.
Some people, especially in small cities and rural areas, are reluctant to adopt a single currency, some of them never traveled abroad and used for international transactions.

Bulgarian President rejects Euro
Among those who are against adopting the euro as currency are the Bulgarian President Rumen Rumen Radev.
Hey proposed a referendum on currency earlier this month, citing public concerns on inflation and purchasing power.
