Donald Trump said- “We are very close to the trade agreement with India, talks with Pakistan next week” – Doanld Trump Says Us Very Close to Finalizing Deal With India Pakistan Envoy to Vishington Next Week

The US President Donald Trupm on Friday made a big statement that the US and India are very close to finalizing a trade agreement. Along with this, he confirmed that the representatives of Pakistan would reach Washington next week so that there could be talks between the two countries. Trump made this statement while talking to reporters on joint base Andrews.

He said, “Pakistan’s representatives are coming next week. We are very close to a deal with India.” However, Trump also made it clear that the US will not be interested in these trade agreements if tensions increase between India and Pakistan or a war -like situation. He reiterated, “If both countries were on the verge of war, I do not want to deal with anyone.”

The statement came at a time when India has increased regional tension after retaliation from the Indian Army under the ‘Operation Sindoor’ on 7 May. The action was taken on 22 April in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, in which 26 people were killed.

Trump appreciated his efforts, saying that he has played an important role in reducing tension between India and Pakistan through trade diplomacy. “We made it clear that the countries which are firing on each other and threatening nuclear weapons, cannot be business. They understood it and agreed, so the situation was calm.”

There is also a change in America’s trade policy between this statement. The Trump administration has planned to impose tariffs up to 29% on Pakistan’s exports by changing the global tariff policy, as Pakistan has a $ 3 billion trade surplus with the US. At the same time, if India is not able to compromise with the US till July, then it may also face tariffs up to 26%.

On behalf of India, Union Minister Piyush Goyal recently visited the US to give impetus to trade talks. At the same time, Foreign Secretary Vikram Egypt visited the US from 27 to 29 May and met Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau. The Indian Embassy described the meeting as “important and positive start”.

Meanwhile, according to the report of Reuters, India can consider opening its government procurement market worth more than $ 50 billion to American companies. It is considered a major step towards trade agreement.
