After the fall of the dramatic rock fall and glacier in the Swiss Lothschental Valley on Wednesday, officials said on Saturday that the situation was easy.
A fear was the Lonza River, which came back behind the snow, rock and debris, resulting in a flood wave.
However, officials said that the river found new routes below the valley in the southern Swiss Canton in Velis.
Construction machinery has been deployed to control the run-off of accumulated water.
The municipalities of the Gampale and the stag informed the residents of working, saying: “It aims to ensure the smooth of debris and alluvial debris through the bed of Lonza Dhara within the villages.”
What did the officials say about Swiss glacier on Saturday?
Stephen Puri of Valas State Council said that there was no major problem in the night.
Saturday was the situation “currently satisfactory” and night “was quite calm,” told by the Austrian public broadcaster ORF.
The council decided to open a nearby dam on Friday evening, warning the residential downstream to make way for water.
The residents were already on alert and were ready to vacate in the case of a dangerous swelling of water behind the cone of debris.
The heat has increased the melting of the glacier’s snow and has forecast rain for the next days. Both can manufacture accumulated water and increase the risk of further landlines.
Blatten: Rebrapping the village buried
The fall of the glacier was caused by a rockfall from 3,000 meters (9842.5 ft) which crashed into the Birsh Glacier on Wednesday afternoon, triggering the landslide.
Millions of cubic meters of ice and rock were sent to crashed through the Lotschental Valley and to bury the village of Blatton, which had already been evacuated.
The water from Lonza was blocked behind a cone of about 2 km–Lumb debris.
Mathais Belwald, president of the municipality of Blaton, said that the village would be rebuilt.
“Bleeton is under a cone of debris. Together we will do what is human for the village reconstruction for the village. We are strong together,” Swiss newspaper New Zourner Zitung Cited him at a press conference.
