IndiGo said on Sunday that it has given a firm order to buy 30 more A350s aircraft from Airbus Company. Now the total number of these wide-body aircraft has increased to 60. The decision was taken by IndiGo when it has partnered with Air France-KLM, Virgin Atlantic and Delta Airlines to expand its long-range flights in North America, Europe and Britain. The price of this deal is said to be 4 to 5 billion dollars (about ₹ 40,000 crore).
The company has taken this decision to bring its international flights to more cities. On Saturday, the government directed IndiGo to abolish its aircraft lease agreement with Turkish Airlines. This decision has been taken amid growing diplomatic tension between India and Türkiye.
Order given to airbus
IndiGo CEO Peter Albers reported that the company has placed a firm order for 30 Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The decision is part of IndiGo’s plan to expand international flights.
IndiGo also ordered 30 A350 aircraft in April and had an option to order 70 more aircraft. The company is now preparing to start flights to 10 new foreign cities through 787 aircraft leased.
Explain that the A350 aircraft are made for long distance flights and it can cover a distance of about 15,000 kilometers (about 9,300 mi) at a time. This will help IndiGo to increase its international route further. The company has so far ordered around 1,000 aircraft from the A320 aircraft family. IndiGo says that this step is an important part of the long term plan of its international expansion.
Indigo expansion campaign
IndiGo has partnered with Air France-KLM, Virgin Atlantic and Delta Airlines for long distance flights in areas such as North America, Europe and Britain. This deal will provide better connectivity, easy journey and similar experience in different countries. When this partnership is fully implemented, Indigo will be able to sell its partners’ flights outside India under its brand name. This means that passengers will also be able to travel ahead of Amsterdam or Manchester by taking tickets from Indigo for Europe or America. Currently, Air France-KLM and Virgin Atlantic are already code-shares with IndiGo flights inside India.
