Science news today: Our earth is hiding the treasure in its womb. The latest research has claimed that the core of the earth is filled with melted gold, which is made about 4.5 billion years ago. Apart from Gold, the huge treasury of other precious metals is hidden in the Earth’s core. A new research has made a sensational disclosure that this gold is slowly leaking from the core and reaching the upper metal and crust. These cores are building volcanic islands like Hawaii in America. Nils Maseling, a geologist at the University of Gottingen, Germany and his team studied the basaltic rocks of Hawaii for three years. Research published in Nature Journal on 21 May 2025 said that more than 99.95% gold and platinums present in Earth’s core are leaking metals. For this reason, more gold can come on the surface of the earth in the future.
It was claimed that the presence of rare elements like ruthanium in Hawaii rocks proved that the core is not isolated. Maseling said that when the planet was formed, the gold and heavy metals accumulated in the core due to the collision of mitorites. But now these metals are coming towards the surface through Magma Plums. According to co-writer Professor Mathius Wilbold, hundreds of Quadrilian metric tons of mental materials reach the surface from the core-mental range to form aerial-like islands.
Is everyone going to get gold?
Does this mean that everyone will be rich? This is not so easy. The gold present in the core is still thousands of kilometers below the Earth’s surface and it is technically impossible. But this discovery can open new possibilities of mining in future, especially in volcanic regions. Parts of metals of ruthanium and other platinum group in air rocks indicate that leakage from the core may last longer.

If this leak continues, the amount of gold on the surface may increase in future.
