In response to this attack, Russia attacked Ukraine so far, using 472 drones and two ballistic missiles. The attack took place on Saturday night, in which several cities including Keev, the capital of Ukraine, were targeted. All this happened when peace talks are going to be held between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul on Monday. Ukraine President Volodimir Jailonsky described this attack as ‘to be recorded in history’ and said that it would make Russia feel the need to end the war.

Question on Trump’s role

Just before the attack, some media reports and claims came out on social media that Ukraine carried out the attack after the approval of US President Donald Trump. Because he has been angry with Putin for the last few days. However, a Ukrainian officer and the US administration clarified that Trump was not already aware of the attack. Trump has repeatedly appealed to the ceasefire to Russia and Ukraine, but this attack has raised questions whether Trump is talking about peace on one side and on the other hand Ukraine is also giving open exemption to the attack.

Did NATO and America help satellite?

The question is also arising whether the US and NATO helped Ukraine for this attack. The Trump administration stopped providing satellite help for a few days. But in March 2025, the US started helping Ukraine again. Recently, Russia transferred its bombers aircraft from Belaya to Olenya Airport, which was seen in satellite photos. Ukraine’s attack took place exactly on these locations, which has deepened this doubt.

Surprise for both Russia and America?

If America and NATO were not aware of this attack, it would be considered the second major surprise in the Russia-Ukraine war.
