A Parliamentary statement said that the Mongolian Prime Minister Luvnamsaren Oyardin resigned on Tuesday after failing to get adequate support in a confidence vote.
It comes after weeks of public opposition against allegations of corruption.
Oyun-Erdin got only 44 votes in the 126-seat Parliament, which is needed below 64 to stay in the office.
After the declaration of the results, Oyun-Erdin said: “It was an honor to serve my country and people, including Pandemics, War and Tariff.”
He wants to remain the role of a caretaker until a heir is appointed within 30 days.
Political crisis
Prior to the vote, Oyun-Erden has warned that the confidence motion may institutionalize institutions and pose a threat to democracy in the country.
“If the governance becomes inaccessible, the economic situation deteriorates, and political parties cannot get consensus. It can lead the public’s trust in the rule of the people and the capacity puts our democratic parliamentary system at risk of collapse.”
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, communist Mongolia adopted democracy in the east.
Last month, the Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) of Oun-Erdin expelled the Democratic Party (DP) from the ruling alliance after some of his younger MPs called after calling for the Prime Minister’s resignation.

The protesters have said that the country’s mineral money has benefited businesses and rich, while many Mongolians live in poverty.
In a statement to the AFP last month, the Prime Minister’s Office stated that “strictly” denied the allegations, labeled them as “smear”.
Oyun-Erdine came to power in 2021 since the decline of Mongolia in Transparency International’s Corruption Dharna Index, so it did not help her.
