Amazon marketplace fee: The legendary e-commerce company Amazon India has added a ‘Marketplace fee’ of ₹ 5 on every order. This means that whenever you order an Amazon, you will have to pay this fee. After this decision, there is a lot of resentment among customers, especially the prime members of Amazon.
Why did Amazon impose this fee?
Amazon says that the purpose of this fee is to maintain the seller platform and give customers a smooth shopping experience. However, users are considering it as ‘hidden charge’. This move of Amazon is like companies like Flipkart and Zepto, who have already implemented such charges.
Which orders will come in this fee?
This fee of ₹ 5 of Amazon will be charged on all orders, whether it is Amazon Prime Member or not. However, some categories such as digital services and gift cards are exempted from this. The company had reduced referral fees on products priced less than ₹ 300. But, now the marketplace fee is added.
Will the fee be returned on the order cancell?
Amazon has also cleared the refund policy with marketplace fee. If the order is fully canceled before the shipment, ₹ 5 will be fully refunded. However, if only some part of the order is canceled, then the refund will also be partial. Now for the example, if you cancels an item of ₹ 200 in an order of ₹ 1000, then only ₹ 1 refund will be available from the marketplace fee.
If you return the order after delivery, the company will not return the marketplace fee. However, if you return the luggage at the door, the marketplace fee will be returned.
How much effect will you have?
Listening to ₹ 5 may sound small, but if you order 20 times a month, it can become an additional burden of ₹ 100. In the long run this “small charge” can also affect your pocket. Especially when you have already paid for free delivery in the name of Prime.
Amazon’s huge resentment among customers
The most angry prime members from this decision are those who first took membership on the promise of free delivery. Many users are expressing their displeasure on social media. His argument is that if fees are to be paid on every order, then what is the meaning of Prime Membership.
A user Rahul Basu wrote on X (first Twitter), ‘Amazon India is quietly charging a “marketplace fee” of ₹ 5 on every order. Even from prime members who were promised free delivery. This is a small amount in appearance, but if you look in such a big volume, it becomes enough! ‘
