Parle-G … the most eaten biscuits in India, which will definitely be connected to all the memories of everyone’s childhood or even stories of tea breaks. It is also a very unique thing that this biscuits sold and eaten in India have never been counted in luxury items, because it has a specialty, that is its price- only 5 rupees … its packing changed over time, the size of the packet has changed, but the price was the same 5 rupees … Now stay a little and carefully, that is about 2400 rupees outside the country, that is, about 500 rupees outside the country, that is about 500 rupees outside the country. Selling … Why didn’t he listen to the shock? Let’s understand this whole matter
In fact, a video recently went viral on social media, in which a Palestinian father is giving a packet of Parle-G to his daughter. The incident occurred at a time when the ongoing struggle between Gaza, Israel and Palestine is struggling with the serious crisis of eating and drinking and rising prices of everyday things.

The name of this man is Mohammad Jawad, who wrote in the viral post, “After a long wait, I finally got his favorite biscuits for Ravif (his daughter). However, the price increased from 1.5 euros to 24 euros, but I could not refuse Ravi to get Ravif to get his favorite biscuits.”
Jawad said that he paid more than 24 euros (about Rs 2,342) for the packet. While its price is usually 5 rupees in Indian markets and about 100 rupees in international markets.
After the stress in October 2023 and the Israeli military campaign began soon after that, the access of food items in Gaza has decreased. This year, between March 2 and May 19, the surrounded Palestinian area was almost completely blocked. Only a limited number of trucks bringing human coasts were allowed to leave, most of them were allowed to go only after heavy international pressure.
In such a situation, the people there are not only dying in military struggle, but are also struggling with hunger and thirst. Now the question is, how much help actually reaches the hungry people? Because now black marketing of such humanitarian crisis is taking advantage of the black market and selling cheap things at high prices.
How is the Parle-Ga 500 times expensive selling 500 times?
These high prices are not limited to Parle-G, which is exported from the country located about 4,300 km away. According to the NDTV report, 31 -year -old surgeon Dr. Khalid Alshwa, a resident of Gaza City, said, “The real problem is not related to the original supplier or taxation.”
He explains, “These goods usually reach free in Gaza as human aid. But only one minority is able to achieve them. Due to the decrease they become products of black market with high prices.”
Alshwa somehow managed to get a packet of Parle-G Biscuits, which he said that its price is about 240 rupees. However, in some places it is being sold for more than Rs 2,000.
In different places, different prices depend on who the vendors are. Interestingly, there is no price written on these Parle-G packets with ‘export packs’ labels.
According to the report, it seems that these biscuits reached Gaza through aid material and later some vendors bought them, who sold them to the common people at a higher price.
Not only Parle-G but many other important things are also being sold at shocking rates. In northern Gaza, the price of 1 kg of sugar was Rs 4,914 and the price of onion was Rs 4,423 per kg.
As of June 6, 2025, the current prices of some essential items of North Gaza (in Indian rupees):
- 1 kg sugar: Rs 4,914
- 1 liter cooking oil: Rs 4,177
- 1 kg potato: 1,965 rupees
- 1 kg onion: Rs 4,423
- 1 Coffee Cup: 1,800 rupees
International ad agencies have warned that Gaza is now going to have a famine. His new assessment based on Integrated Food Security Phase Classification has declared the entire area in an “Emergency” phase. By May 12, around 470,000 people, about 22 percent of the Gaza population, had entered the “calamity”, which suggests that starvation, death and malnutrition are at their peak.
Doctors are donating blood, children are dying of hunger
International Medical NGO Doctors Bidout Borders (MSF) said in a very scared statement that doctors in Gaza are now donating their blood for the treatment of patients. All this happened after incidents when dozens of citizens were killed while trying to get food items.
Palestinian officials reported at least 29 deaths from starvation in a few days last month, most of which were children and elderly. These figures have come amidst the increasing investigation of the aid distribution system and the increasing criticism of Israel’s restrictions, while Tel Aviv insists that he investigates the trucks that bring aid, so that any help to reach Hamas can be stopped.
Story of becoming parle-g
Parle-G is not just a food item. These are old memories wrapped in paper. Launched in 1938, this biscuit emerged as a local option in front of British snacks during India’s indigenous movement. It became a national biscuit, which anyone could buy.
For decades, Parle-G has succeeded in maintaining its low price due to economics, which means to reduce weight while maintaining the price.
A packet of 5 rupees, which used to be 100 grams earlier, now contains about 55 grams. Nevertheless, it is one of the cheapest packaged food products in India.
In 2013, Parle-G became the first Indian FMCG brand to cross sales of Rs 5,000 crore. According to Nielsen, by 2011 it became the world’s best -selling biscuit according to the quantity.
