UNICEF reduced the humanitarian situation in Gaza, as aid as ‘fodder’
Humanitrian groups say that the rate of young children suffering from rapid malnutrition in Gaza has almost three times – Compared to the period of Ceaaseefire earlier this year, when the aid flowed independently.
DW spoke about the current humanitarian situation in Gaza with James Elder of UNICEF, a UN children’s agency.
Elder, who has just returned from Gaza, said that the youngest children in the Palestinian region are facing “man-made nutritional crisis”.
“I am looking at malnourished children who will not be alive next week,” Hey said about those who are still in hospitals working.
He said that there is a lack of basic medical supply including pinklers.
“The sheer weight of the injured children is the same; it is consistent, but the lacquer of pinklers is something you don’t see, but you hear … Thesis shouts blood-caring,” Hey.
Israel on March 2 stated a total blockade on Gaza, claiming that there was pressure on Hamas, which is Many Western Governments and Israel are considered a terrorist group, Hostage by militants still to release the stall hero. Israeli officials said Hamas was stealing and using assistance to his own fighters, without providing evidence to support the claim. This blockade was only partially easy.
“We now have three or four distribution points run by military contractors, where children are killed because they try to reach this aid; it is not aid; it is not aid; it begs food begs,” said Elder.
Elder reported that during a ceasefire a letter between Hamas and Israel, the United Nations and other agencies were to send hundreds of trucks to the daily base, and there was no massive loot.
However, he said, “When you deprive a population of food and then you allow the United Nations to go down only a few trucks, create circumstances for looting, this happens and this loben boat is completely frustrated to people every day.”
The Gaza Humanitrian Foundation, a controversial US and the Israel-supported support network, began working last week, but operated in a hurry after the days of deadly incidents in which the Palestinians scores were killed.
It crosses the United Nations aid agencies and other initiatives, and it is accused of endangering citizens in this process.
“What is happening now that the circumstances have created a bee to rob the bee to sideline a human system that worked in the score of countries around the world since the world war,” the Elder said.
“You can’t ask grandmother and sick people and amputees and children to walk 20 kilometers. 12.4 miles]You can’t use assistance as aid, that’s what has just been done,” hey said.
