“I was afraid that I was Mishiad,” 41 -year -old director and screenwriter Masha Shilinski, when her film named the Jury Award winner at the Cannes International Film Festival. “This was a real moment – just amazing.”
Next to the festival, the filmmaker said that she was “happy with insanity” for her film “Sound of Falling” selected in the main competition lineup at the Cannes Film Festival. “This is a filmmaker’s dream!”
This year, Germany was represented by Fatih Akin, whose historical film was out of the “Amram” competition, and the Christian Petzold, whose features “Mirrs No.3” were selected for the factories of the directors, for the independent sidebar at the Cannes Festival.
But Shilinsky was the only German director with a film in the main competition, since Maran Ed created a stir with “Tony Edman” on the 2016 festival.
Four generations depiction
“Sound of Falling” is set in a farm in a small village in Northstars Germany. It follows the life of four generations of women living on the farm, combining their stories by jumping forward and back between the lines between different deadliers and spots. What begins as a picture of four generations begins, reflects a broad illustration of a century.
“As we passed through the rooms of the farmhouse, we could understand centuries,” Shilinski said. “This is a question that I have done since childhood.” She explained that as a little girl in a prever -apartment building in Berlin, she often thought, “What happened to the Stuin Thesis walls in the past? ‘Falling of Flying’ focuses on female gaze
As Shilisky’s first film of 2017, “Dark Blue Girl,” with a psychodrama about a complex family, this latest work focuses on a female perspective, which relates to events related to the perspective of women. Shilinski said that the female haze was greatly imported for her and co-author Lewis Peter as it is very rare in films.
The director explained, “The film is very high about Gazes, the gazes that have exposed women during a century with bee, how it feels today and therefore how it is done and burnt in the body,” the director explained.
Shilisky’s career path seems almost predetermined: her mother is a filmmaker who took her to film shooting, and she started acting for film and television while breastfeeding school. Then he did the film business internship, worked as a casting agent, traveled through Europe and worked as a magician and fire dancer for a small journey circus. After writing screenplay at Hamburg Film School, she settled in Berlin and began working as a freelance screenwriter for the film and television.
“Dark Blue Girl” was screening at the 2017 Berlin International Film Festival, and Shiliski attracted some attention, and her career is likely to promote another promote with a jury award for her latest film in Cannes.
“Sound of Falling” is due to release in German theaters on 11 September.
