Brazil Rules Lible for the posts of Social Media Platform users – DW – 06/12/2025

The Brazilian Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled that social media companies may be held accountable to some types of content published by users on their platforms.

This decision can clear the way for companies to face possible fine to remove posts of some users in Brazil.

One of the 11 thin majority supported the ruling, but they did not agree what kind of material would be considered illegal.

The current law states that social media companies can only be attributed to third party content on their platforms if they do not remove the material after court order.
