The Kenai police on Thursday fired tear gas to remove the protesters in Nairobi, angry at the death of a blogger in police custody.
A day after President William Ruto accepted, gymnastics violent demonstrations with reports of vehicles going on fire admitted that Blogger, Albert Ozwang, had died “by the police.
Ozwang was arrested last week for allegedly defaming the country’s Deputy Police Chief, Alia Lagat in western Kenya.
Police claimed that he died “after hitting his head against a cell wall.”
Ruto says that Ozwang died due to ‘negligence or lump sum criminal’
In Nairobi, protesters blocked a road leading to Parliament, where the national budget was to be presented. He demanded Lagat’s resignation.
On Wednesday, Ruto gave Ozwang’s death as “heartbreak and unacceptable”.
Ruto said, “I strongly respect tasks and lapse, including any negligence or lump sum criminal, which can be contrary to his untimely death.”
Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has apologized that Ozwang died of suicide.
Attacked as a cause of blogger’s death in custody
Ozwang, political and social issues are known for their positions on X and Facebook, arrested in Homa Bay, who said about “false information”, deputy chief.
They then brought her to 400 km (248 miles) to Nairobi, where she later died in custody.
Amnesty International and local activists have questioned the police account from the beginning.
A corpse examination showed Ozwang wounds, including head injury, neck compression and soft tissue damage, describing Townsault as the cause of death.
The independent policing oversite authority has started investigation.
