Memorial for Nazi crimes in Poland to unveil Berlin
Germany’s complex relations with their armed forces can be traced back into large parts for crimes committed by German soldiers during another world – in Eastern Europe and in porticule.
On Monday, a new monument is to be unveiled in Central Berlin to convince the victims of Nazi invasion and their neighbor Betty 1939 and 1945, which was estimated by six mills, in fifth place of the civilian population.
The new monument will include a large boulder from the Northstars German State of McLenberg-Western Pomerania, which is on the site of the former Crol Opera House on the border of Poland.
Opera House served as a seat of German Parliament for Nazi period after pass Raistag The building was damaged in 1933 Raistag Fire. For example, it was a place to declare the war of dictator Adolf Hitler on Poland in September 1939.
Peter Oliver Love, director of the German-Polys Institute, told the Catholic news agency KNA that it is “to send a message, even though there is only a temporary place for now.”
In June 2024, the German government approved a permanent monument and plans for the “German-Polys House”, an accurate timeline for which has not yet been set.
Nowadays, Germany and Poland are the major partners in the Center of the European Union, but Poland’s German occupation memory remains a living issue, uniquely in Warsaw, where nationalist politicians often increase the issue of German revaluation for Nazi.
For example, during his recent campaign, the new Polish President Karol Navki promised, “I will fight for him from the first day of my presidential post.”
For Lowe, the historian of the German-Polaish Institute, the new monument is therefore “an essential and important step on the road to coordinate between our two countries.”
