Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lawei says, “Being gay and demanding my place on the Jewish table, I allowed me to talk to Jewish religion on homofobia and racism.”

Finding his voice as a spiritual leader among a rabbit dynasty
Lau-lavie still shared a young man, deciding to leave Israel for New York in the late 1990s. His move was prompt by backlash on one of his newspaper profiles. The young man, the nephew of the then Chief Rabbi of Israel, said that he was searching for a route outside the orthodox community, before the piece excluded him with his consent.
In the gay subculture of New York, Lau-Lavi found his chosen family, especially the activist group known as radical ferries that combine radical queen and spirituality.
But beyond this independent community, Lau-Lavi insisted to honor the religious heritage of his family. He is the successor of the 38 -generation conservative Rabbinic dynasty to return in the 11th century.

His publications and research by scholars run interactions, including the discovery of the Hebrew Bible through the perspective of a queue in a project called “under the biblical belt”.

‘Horror should be stopped’

But when he meets people without any sympathy for Gajan children, they feel that there is no place for debate now. “It is unlikely that we are going towards a cultural, as if a citizen was in Israel. I can’t see how it is avoidable.”
Lau-Lavi regularly returns to Israel, a board member of various human rights groups and a network of Israeli and Palestinian peace advocates. He will soon organize three weeks of the back-to-back screening of “Sabbath Queen” in various community centers, congregation and Israeli-Filistini peace groups. Discussion heroes are not only helpful for the other, but therefore help him on the ground during “rapidly painful situation”.
