G7 Summit 2025: PM Modi arrives in Canada for G -7 summit, know why this journey is important – PM Narendra Modi Arrives in Canada for G7 Summit Where this Visit is important for India

PM Narendra Modi in G7 Summit 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached the city of Calgary on Tuesday to attend the G-7 summit in Canada. This is PM Modi’s first visit to Canada in a decade. Prime Minister Modi will meet with world leaders during this period. During this time, we will discuss important global issues including energy, technology and innovation. Prime Minister Modi reached Canada on Monday evening (local time) from Cyprus at the invitation of Prime Minister Mark Carney of Canada. The conference will run from 16 June to 17 June in Kanainiscis. This is the sixth consecutive participation of PM Modi at the G-7 summit.

The Ministry of External Affairs said in New Delhi, “Energy security, technology and innovation with heads of Prime Minister G-7, other invited countries and international organizations at the summit will exchange views on important global issues, especially including AI-energy relations and quantum-related issues.”

Prime Minister Modi will also hold several bilateral meetings during the summit. The conference is being held a month after India started ‘Operation Sindoor’. In response to the 22 April Pahalgam attack under ‘Operation Sindoor’, terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK) was targeted.

The invitation given by Carney to PM Modi to attend the G-7 summit is a sign of the new government’s intention to improve relations with India that reached the worst position after the assassination of pro-Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

In October last year, India withdrew its High Commissioner and five other diplomats as Ottawa tried to connect him with the Nijjar case. India had expelled the same number of diplomats from Canada. India accused Justin Trudeau’s government of allowing Khalistani supporters to work from the land of Canada.

Economist Carney took over as the new Prime Minister of Canada after Trudeau stepped away from the top post. In the last few months, security officials from India and Canada have resumed the contact. Both sides are considering the possibility of appointing new High Commissioners.

The G-7 summit is taking place amidst geopolitical tension. This includes the increasing tension in West Asia as well as the trade war began due to the increasing tension in West Asia in view of the attack on each other of Iran and Israel.
