The Indian Air Career Air India is facing pressure, as the country’s regulator ordered a check on its Boeing 787 aircraft, which was involved in a major deadly accident last week.
London-Bound Air India flight crashed during the take-off in Ahmedabad city, killing at least 270 people, including passengers and crew.
What do we know about cancellation?
According to data shared by the Directorate General of India’s Aviation Safety Regulatory Civil Aviation, a total of 83 wide-body flights including 66 flights involving Boeing Dreamliner have been canceled.
With the case, the executive family of a company told The Associated Press News on the condition of anonymity, “There is a cascading impact. We are getting additional alert and doing additional checks beyond normal.”
In addition to inspections, the closure of airspace in some Middle Eastern countries as a result of the conflict between Israel and Iran has crippled the domestic and international operations of Air India.
The country’s regulator said late Tuesday night that the initial check on Air India’s Boeing Dreamliner Fleet “did not reveal any major security concerns”.
“The aircraft and related maintenance systems were found to suit existing safety standards,” officials said, “the officials said.
More than 200 victims were identified
The airline has tried to surprise the passengers, while the cause of the accident in Ahmedabad is discovered by experts from India’s aircraft accident investigation with the help of UK, US and Boeing.
Investigators are currently getting important information from both black boxes recovered from the site, cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder.
Air India’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner exploded in a fireball, when it crashed in post-takeoff moments, except that the witnesses stated that there were bad bodies and scattered remains.
Indian officials said on Wednesday that 200 victims of the Ahmedabad accident have been identified through DNA testing.
The announcement was welcome for family members of many victims, many of which are providing DNA samples to help their loved ones identify.
