Washington: US President Donald Trump is going to have lunch with Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir at the White House on Wednesday. This meeting is taking place at a time when Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is threatening India for war. Trump’s move has become a major cause of concern for India, as it indicates America’s growing alliance with Pakistan, which can be against India’s strategic interests. The White House has announced that this lunch between Trump and Munir will take place in the cabinet room at 1 pm.
Meet for pressure on Iran?
Analysts believe that the meeting may be part of the US and Israeli’s strategy against Iran. Trump recently threatened Iran leader Ali Khamenei and said to destroy his nuclear weapon program. The US wants Pakistan, which is the only nuclear power country in the Islamic world, should not support Iran. Pakistan’s weak economic condition makes him easy target for American pressure. Many reports say that Munir may be asked to support the US against Iran in this meeting or to be at least neutral.
Bilawal is threatening
Before the meeting, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari threatened Iran. Bhutto has advised India to come to the conversation table, but at the same time it threatened that if the water stopped, Pakistan will consider it a threat to its existence and wars. Bilawal said in an interview to German broadcaster DW Urdu in Brussels, “All issues between Pakistan and India can be solved only by talks.” Some people are seeing this meeting of Trump as a recognition of the Pakistani army.
