Asim Munir Exclusive: Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir has openly challenged India by giving a provocative speech at Washington DC’s Four Season Hotel. In this speech, Munir claimed victory against India and described Kashmir as the vein of Pakistan’s life. He expressed support for Iran and said that his struggle with Israel will end soon. In this event, the slogans of Pakistani politician Abdul Razak Raja further heated the atmosphere.
Munir further accused India of taking advantage of deceit and said that Pakistan lost opportunities on the global stage. Describing India’s diplomacy as weak, he said that the military and political unity of Pakistan is like a body and soul. Munir also claimed that Pakistani soldiers are desperate to face India.
Question on the role of America
America’s role is suspicious of Munir’s aggression. The news of his lunch meeting with US President Donald Trump on Wednesday created a stir in India. This meeting is taking place at a time when Michael Kurilla, the Chief General of the American Central Command (Kentcom), has described Pakistan as a great partner in the anti -terrorism fight. Kurilla praised Pakistan for the arrest of a terrorist of ISIS-Khorasan.
Some analysts believe that the US wants to balance China’s influence by keeping Pakistan in its favor. Pakistan’s deep partnership with China, especially Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) are a matter of concern for the US. Apart from this, Munir’s alleged participation in the cryptocurrency deal associated with the Trump family has also raised questions.
India’s concern
Munir’s speech and his meeting with Trump creates many concerns for India. First, Munir’s inflammatory rhetoric on Kashmir and his alleged role in terrorism is a threat to India’s security. Second, America’s growing cooperation with Pakistan can weaken India’s anti -terrorism policy. India had recently sent delegations to promote this policy in 33 countries.
It is dangerous for Asim Munir to challenge India from America. America’s softening towards Pakistan, especially Trump administration, is a diplomatic challenge for India. India will have to further strengthen its diplomacy, so that it can effectively keep its position on the global platform.
