Bypoll Elections Results 2025: After a crushing defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal has got to taste the victory for the first time. In the counting of votes held on Monday (June 23) for the by -election for two assembly seats in Gujarat, AAP candidate Gopal Italia Visavadar has won. While Rajendra Chavda of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won in the Kadi. Rajendra Chavda defeated Congress candidate Rameshbhai Chavda by 39,452 votes on the Kadi seat. Whereas, Gopal Italia of AAP won by 17,554 votes on Visavadar seat.
AAP’s victory in Punjab
Aam Aadmi Party candidate Sanjeev Arora is ahead in Ludhiana West seat in Punjab. He has almost reached close to victory. Sanjeev Arora is leading by 8,697 votes after counting the 12th round in 14. After the death of AAP MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi in January, Ludhiana West Assembly seat was vacant, so the election became necessary there.
The opposition party Congress bets on former minister and Punjab Congress executive president Bharat Bhushan Ashu. As soon as Arora becomes an MLA, he will have to leave the Rajya Sabha seat, which will make this seat vacant. In such a situation, speculations are being made that the party may send AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal to Rajya Sabha from Punjab.
Congress victory in Kerala
The Congress -led United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate Shaukat Aryadan has won the Nilambur assembly seat in Kerala. He defeated M. Swaraj, a candidate of Left Democratic Front headed by Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan by 11,077 votes. There was a wave of happiness in the UDF camp in Nilambur and parts of Kerala when Shaukat gained an edge over Swaraj.
Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Kerala Legislative Assembly VD Satishan led the election campaign in the by -election. He said that UDF will gain power in 2026. Nilambur seat was vacant after the resignation of MLA PV Anwar, where there was a tough fight between the ruling LDF and UDF.
The by -elections in five assembly seats of four states were held on 19 June. In Gujarat, West Bengal and Punjab, it was necessary to hold a by-election in one seat each due to the death of existing MLAs. Whereas in Kerala and Gujarat, voting was held due to the resignation of two MLAs.
TMC ahead in Bengal
The counting of votes for the by -election in Kaliganj assembly seat in Nadia district of West Bengal is going on. Trinamool Congress candidates are ahead by 29,749 votes. Election Commission officials said that after the seven -round count, Trinamool Congress candidate Alifa Ahmed got 59,329 votes. While his nearest rival Marxist Communist Party (CPI (M)) Congress candidate Kaabil Uddin Sheikh secured 19,516 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Ashish Ghosh is in second place who got 29,580 votes.
Officials said that the counting of votes started with the counting of postal ballots at 8 am amid tight security arrangements. The calculation process continues in a peaceful manner. In February, due to the sudden demise of Trinamool Congress MLA Naseeruddin Ahmed, it was necessary to hold a by -election in the Kaliganj assembly seat. His daughter Alifa Ahmed has been fielded from this seat as a Trinamool Congress candidate.
