Just a few kilometers from Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, a village is situated in the lap of Namkum block, whose names of people stand on hearing the name – Vajramara. It is not a common village, but one of the most dangerous mysteries of nature. Every year, electricity from the sky is so much rain here, as if the clouds have decided to get angry on this earth. Local people say that electricity falls more than 500 times in a year, and there is hardly any family that has been untouched by its hit.
Farmers working in the fields, villagers standing in trees, cattle are all in danger. This village has now become a symbol of fear, which people have started calling ‘capital of thunderstorms’. But the question is, why this anger of nature is only on this village?
Why is it called ,Capital of thunderstorms,
The name of Vajramara tells that here ‘Vajra’ means that electricity repeatedly kills. The elders of the village say that the fall of lightning more than 500 times every year is common here. There is hardly any house left, which has not suffered this havoc, crops are destroyed, cattle are over and many times people also die.
What is the reason for continuous lightning fall,
According to scientists, the geographical design of Vajramara is the biggest reason for this. The area here is a hill and dense forests, where high trees and peaks attract electricity. Also, the monsoon clouds rising from the Bay of Bengal have a direct impact on the region. Incidents of thunderstorms have become common here with heavy clouds and thunderstorms.
Work becomes work in the fields
Most of the people of the village depend on farming and animal husbandry. During the rainy season, working in the fields or hiding under trees proves fatal for them. Many times the electricity falls right to them, due to which both life and property suffer heavy losses.
Is there any way to avoid this fear?
The government and the Meteorological Department have declared the region a high risk zone. Lightning arrests have also been installed in some places, but due to lack of awareness and slow access to resources, this danger still remains.
Nature’s havoc or warning?
Vajramara is not just a village, a symbol of nature’s warning, which is telling us that along with development, security is also necessary. Will concrete steps be taken to save this village or will this village bear the beating of thunderstorms every year?
