Wildfire risk is a concern
Wildfires are common in Greece during their hot, dry summer. Officials said the risk of wildfires would be high on Friday before the weather cools down.
The Civil Protection Agency warned that small fire may turn into major blazes over a few minutes due to extreme heat, dry conditions and high winds.
Due to the weather conditions, the whole against the Athens region, as well as several aegian islands, were at level 4 of the 5-level scale for the risk of wildfire.
Earlier this week, hundreds of firefigers took four days to bring control of a major wildfire on the Eastern Ageon Island Chios.
