Donald Trump’s big win in Supreme Court! The power of judges to stop ‘action’ in America was curbed

Washington DC: US President Donald Trump has got an important relief from the Supreme Court. On Friday, the US Supreme Court gave a verdict with a majority of 6-3, which has questioned the strength of the lower courts that they were stopping the policies of Trump across the country. This decision is being considered as a milestone in the way of carrying out Trump’s policy agenda. The case is related to the executive order of Trump, in which he tried to end the system of giving citizenship to children born in America. This order would be especially applied to children whose parents are not American citizens or who do not have a green card.

Trump issued this executive order on the very first day of coming to the presidency. According to this, now the child born in America will get citizenship only when at least one of his parents has American citizenship or a legitimate residence (Green Card).

Debate on 14th amendment

Trump’s order was stated against the 14th amendment, which says ‘All the people born in the United States and under its jurisdiction will be considered citizens of America’. This amendment came into force after the Civil War in 1868 and was brought to ensure citizenship after finishing the slavery.

Democratic Attorney Generals of 22 states, Pravasi Rights Activists and several pregnant immigrants challenged Trump’s order in the court.
