Metamask presents Embedded Wallets, a new type of purse

  • This development allows web3 DAPPS with Google, X or Discord accounts.

  • Developers can create DAPPS with integrated wallets natively.

The team behind Metamask announced the launch of the “Embedded Wallets”(Integrated Wallets), a solution designed to reduce entry barriers to cryptocurrency networks, improve user experience (UX) and facilitate the adoption of decentralized applications (DAPPS).

This developmentpresented on June 27, seeks to address one of the main challenges for users not familiar with cryptocurrencies: the Complexity to configure and manage a digital wallet.

The Embedded Wallets They are web 3 purses integrated directly into DAPPs, which eliminates the need for users to discharge separate extensions or applications.

Users can create and recover Wallets By means of social logssuch as Google or X, OTP codes by mail or mobile, or connecting “more than 400 external wallets”, with multifactor authentication options. This new Metamk format simplifies the management of purses by eliminating the need to manually support private keys.

This allows applications to offer a more fluid user experience on web3, without emerging windows, maintaining self -system and adapting to the design of each platform.

“This allows DAPPS to connect with users where they are, offering the same guarantees of self -ustody. Since the purse integrated into the DAPP interface is, developers completely control their appearance, experience and flow, without emerging windows or redirections. It is fast, invisible and faithful to the brand.”

Metamk statement.

According to MetamSk, “35% of its users do not support those phrases”which represents a risk of loss of funds. Integrated Wallets simplify this process by offering more intuitive authentication flows.

For example, a person could buy an NFT or use a defi platform with just a few clicks, without the need to manage complex technical configurations or previously count on cryptocurrencies, provided that the application allows.

Additionally, Wallets Embedded can connect “to more than 40 compatible networks (with and without Ethereum virtual machine)” and use with the function of Smart Walletsas the following image shows:

Metamask Wallets Wallets incorporate a multipartite computer -based security system (MPC) with threshold firm scheme technology (TSS) and Shamir’s exchange of secrets (SSS).

That approach points to Protect private keys by dividing them into encrypted fragmentsdistributed between different devices or services, preventing a single entity from controlling or storing in a single place, which significantly reduces the risks of attacks or robberies.

This system allows to sign transactions without the need to rebuild the complete private key, since the encrypted fragments operate in a coordinated way to maintain security.

Although it is designed so that the loss of a fragment does not compromise the purse, the effectiveness of this protection depends on the correct implementation and management of the systems, providing users with an additional security layer when interacting with decentralized applications.

A tool also for developers

For developers, Metamask provides improved software development kits, integrated with web3auth technology, a platform acquired by Consensys, the company behind Metamask.

These kits allow customizing the experience of the purse to align with the visual identity of each DAPP. Thus, developers can incorporate purses on their platforms natively, adding for example family authentication methodsas a session with Google accounts, Discord or X.

In addition, according to Metamk’s announcement, Embedded Wallets They support advanced functions, such as transactions at no cost of network rates and recurrent payments, which opens the door to new cases of use, such as web subscriptions or “frictionless” micropagos.

However, the adoption of Embedded Wallets will depend largely on their ability to guarantee robust security standards. Social authentication, enabled by web3auth, allows users to connect their purses to accounts such as Gmail or Discord, but this raises significant challenges.

Although Metamask can implement measures such as multifactor authentication to protect users, the safety of external accounts depends in part on the platforms themselves, which could be out of control.
