R& as aww chief parag jain: The central government has appointed Parag Jain, a 1989 batch IPS officer Parag Jain as the new secretary of the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW). The Narendra Modi government took this decision on Saturday. He got this appointment for a fixed term of two years. He will officially replace Ravi Sinha on 1 July, whose term ends on 30 June. The appointment committee of the cabinet approved the promotion of Jain on 28 June.
Jain, currently as the head of the Aviation Research Center (ARC), played an important role in India’s retaliation ‘Operation Sindoor’ after the Pahalgam terror attack. Under his leadership, ARC had collected action on Pakistani military deployment using a combination of Human Intelligence (Humint) and Technical Intelligence (Techint) capabilities.
Raw has experience over 15 years
Parag Jain is currently the second most senior officer in Raw, who reports directly to the high command. They oversee several high -risk operations and intelligence divisions. With the experience of over 15 years in the agency, he has gained deep expertise in it. He has played well in cases such as anti -terrorism campaigns, Punjab’s internal security, Sikh militancy and Khalistan -related agitation, cross -border and migrant monitoring. He has contributed significantly to the anti -terrorism strategy of the Center and the security reorganization of the Union Territory after the removal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
Jain’s international assignment includes an important position in Ottawa, Canada, where he monitored radical Sikh migrant groups and worked to infiltrate the separatist network. He was later deployed there during the 2022 Sri Lankan economic crisis, where he experienced the change of governance and political upheaval in front, which gave him a direct operation experience in a foreign environment with high unrestability.

Parag Jain has been promoted at a time when many strategic challenges like India’s external intelligence community, from cross-border terrorism and Khalistani revival to China-Pakistan alliance and new-age war, are increasing in front of the country. Parag Jain is expected to accelerate the mission of RAW during geopolitically sensitive period, with a tremendous combination of ground-level policing experiences, foreign intelligence posting and technical competent leadership.
