Investigators saw possible Russian participation in Bundesvehar truck arson

After the arson attack on six Bundesvehar trucks in Eastar, East German state of Thuringia, investigators are discovering the possibility of Russian participation.

“We are investigating in this direction,” said a spokesperson of the Public Prosecutor’s office in Erfart. However, she emphasized that the investigation is currently chasing all possible leads.

On Saturday evening, six Bundesvehar trucks parked in a workshop in Erfurt Cat Fire. On Thursday, photos showing both trucks before and after the loss appeared on the Russian-language Telegram channel “obesity” with the video of Blaze.

According to the spokes, the video clearly catches the beginning of the event. “We are checking who would have posted this video,” he said. The Thuringian State Criminal Police Office announced that it was currently verifying the authenticity and origin of the clip.

Post with the video claimed that the trucks were for the Ukrainian army. “Our people decided that all this was unnecessary and the Ukrainian armed forces did not need the search equipment. So they just burnt it,” the post said in Russian.

However, the German Ministry of Defense said that the trucks were not lucky for Ukraine. “These are the devices of the business soldiers,” said a ministry spokesman in Berlin. He said that the vehicles were not involved in potential delivery in Ukraine in any way.

The local command of Bundesvehar in Thuringia confirmed awareness about the video. A spokesman said, “In our opinion, there are still pure speculation at this level that it is a task of sabotage by Russian actors or misinformation campaign.”

Thuringia’s internal minister George Maini said that it is very early to determine who was behind the attack. “If it is confirmed that a foreign power – such as Russia – deliberately vandalized here, is another attack on our democracy. I search for hostile acts on the German soil in the strongest possible word,” he insisted.
