At least 13 soldiers killed in suicide attack – DW – 06/28/2025

Local government officials and police officials told the AFP on Saturday that at least 13 Pakistani troops were killed in a suicide attack, claimed by the Pakistani Taliban.

According to officials, the attack in North -West Pakistan injured at least 25 people, including 15 army personnel and 10 citizens, according to officials, spoke to the Associated Press on the condition of anonymity.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif accepted the attack as a “cowardly task”, according to a statement by his office.

Vehicle entered the convoy

“A suicide bomber inserted an explosive Laden vehicle into a military convoy,” said a local government official in the North Waziristan district of Khyber Punkankahwa province.

A police officer informed the AFP that the blast, injuring six children, demolished the roofs of two houses.

Initial investigation stated that 800 kg (1.760 pounds) explosives were used in the attack.

According to AP sources, the attack targeted a military vehicle at lunch in North Waziristan.

The attack was claimed by the suicide bomber wing of Hafiz Gul Bahadur Armed Group, which is affiliated to the Pakistani Taliban.

Since the Taliban returned to power in Kabul in 2021, there has been a significant increase in violence in Afghanistan’s border Pakistani region.
