Trump Tarrif deadline: US President Donald Trump on Sunday clarified that his recipe is not intended to carry forward the deadline fixed to implement the tariff. Its deadline is on 9 July 2025. After this, America will collect a certain tariff from most of its business partners. However, Trump also said that the deadline could be extended if needed.
The US President’s statement came at a time when the US is working to finalize bilateral trade agreements with dozens of countries. It also includes India. Trump recently indicated that there could be a big trade agreement with India soon. The Trump administration has put pressure on the countries by deciding the deadline of July 9 to compromise the US on better trade conditions. However, flexibility is also retained.
‘Probably will not have to increase deadline’
In an interview in Fox News’s’ Sunday Morning Futures’ program, Trump said, ‘I don’t think I will have to increase the deadline. But, even if the deadline had to be increased, there is no big deal. He also said in an informal conversation with reporters on Friday, “I would like to reduce the deadline even more and just send letters to all countries- congratulations, now you are giving 25% tariffs.”
Deal boom, but many points are still left
According to the White House, the US is currently talking to 18 important business partners. Treasury Secretary Scott Besent said in a statement to Fox Business, “Many countries are contacting us with good proposals, but it is difficult to say whether all the deals will be completed by July 9.”
Besent indicated that if 10–12 major agreements are finalized on time, the US may cover the trade conversation by Labor Day (September).
Close to deal with some countries including India
President Trump also indicated that India is one of the countries with which the deal is almost ready. Last week, the Indian Trade delegation held high -level meetings with US officials in Washington. This indicates that important changes in the near future are possible in the US-India trade relationships.
UK-China Deal also incomplete aspect
However, the White House has described the agreement with Britain as ‘comprehensive’. But, according to sources, some important issues have not been agreed in it. As such as data transfer and tax on pharma products. Similarly, the recent deal with China does not have clarity on subjects such as drug trafficking and access to American exporters.
