Thousands of protesters blocked roads on major roads in Belgrade and other Serbian cities on Sunday night.
The protesters took action after a night for Snap elections and a night after organizing a large rally in the capital to remove the right -wing Local President Alexander Wusik from power.
Anti -corruption activists said the blockade on the road was a reaction to the arrest of “a large number of citizens” after a Saturday rally in the city of Belgrade, which attracted about 140,000 people.
The protesters put a metal fence and kept garbage containers across the city.
The protesters on Sunday demanded the release of dodens of students and other protesters, who were arrested for a confrontation with the police during the rally last night.
Serbian media reported similar barriers in small towns of Balkan nation.
What are the protests about?
Serbia has been shaken for months of anti -government protests, surrounded by a roof collapse of a deadly railway station in November 2024, killing 16 people.
The accident has been widely convicted on government corruption and negligence.
Vucic has repeated the call for an initial election and has accused the anonymous “foreign powers” of fueling the student -led protest movement.
Earlier on Sunday, Vucic again rejected the demands for the initial elections and accused the movement due to “terror”.
“Serbia has won, and you can’t beat Serbia with violence, as something wanted,” the viewer said at a television address.
The President and Parliamentary elections have been scheduled for 2027.
