Local emergency officials said on Thursday that a boat carrying dozens of passengers and vehicles is near the island of Bali, a popular tourist island in Indonesia.
The boat was carrying 53 passengers and 12 crew along with 22 vehicles, Surbaya search and rescue agency, which is located in Java.
The rescue agency said in a later statement on Thursday that at least four people were rescued.
According to Surbaya Search and Rescue Agency, the AP News Agency cited the Banungi police that two people were killed and 43 people were missing, while the AFP news agency said 61 people were missing.

The vessel, KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya, drowned at around 23:20 local time (15:20 UTC/GMT).
It left the Ketpong port of East Java some time before 11 pm local time on Wednesday, and sent a sign of a crisis after about 20 minutes, said Vahu Setiabudi, the coordinator of the search and rescue in Banugani on Java Island.
The boat was led to the Gilimonuk port in Bali, which is a 50 km (30-mile) journey.
Wahyu said search and rescue workers were deployed in the area of the last known place of the ship, but the effigies were stopped from rough seas and bad weather.
Local media reported that the boat had issued a day of May 1 requesting immediate assistance due to an engine malfunction.
