On Sunday, after the official audit, the chosen ones will be officially confirmed.
They will assume their functions on September 1, 2025.
Cardano already has its seven elected members for the first Constitutional Committee (CC) in its history. The voting process ended this week, and the preliminary results reveal the names of those who will assume the role of guardians of the Constitution of Cardano, marking the end of the transition period after the 2024 Chang update.
The chosen ones – to wait for a final audit that will be published this Sunday, July 6 – are: Cardano Atlantic Council, Tingvard, Eastern Cardano Council, KTORZ, Ace Alliance, Cardano Japan Council and Phil_uplc. These people and organizations represent a global and diverse community, committed to the decentralized governance of the ecosystem.
All votes were registered on-chain and are being audited by Dquadrant. Key aspects such as the eligibility of voters, the integrity of the vote and the final count are being verified. The final validation will allow executing a governance action to formalize the new committee in the block chain.
This Committee will replace the Interim Constitutional Committee (ICC), which has worked since September 2024 with designated members, including Intersect representatives, Input Output, the Cardano and Emurgo Foundation. These entities decided not to present themselves to the new election, in favor of a more open and representative governance.
The voteinitially based on model 1 ADA = 1 vote, it was adapted to the system of delegated representatives (DREPS). Between June 10 and July 2, voters were able to choose up to seven candidates among 19 applicants, including individuals, consortiums and organizations throughout the ecosystem.
The CC election committee, made up of constitutional delegates, members of the ICC and intersect personnel, led the design of the electoral process. The choice included open forums, multilingual documentation, a strategy of rotation of mandates and tools for transparency.
Once the results are ratified by block producers (SPOS) and DREPS, the new members They will formally assume their functions the September 1, 2025. Since then, constitutional supervision will be completely in the hands of representatives chosen by the community.
The guardians of the Constitution of Cardano are responsible for reviewing and validating that each governance action is aligned with the constitutional principles of the ecosystem. They act as neutral referees, interpret the Constitution in case of disputes, and guarantee the legitimacy of the decision -making process, ensuring decentralized, transparent and consistent governance with the foundational values of Cardano.
This milestone consolidates a new stage for the governance of Cardano as detailed by cryptootics at the end of last year when it was decided to implement this new governance model: it is intended to include an effective decentralization, with clear rules and guardians chosen by their own users.
