PM Modi Addresses Trinidad and Tobago Parliament: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the joint session of the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago on Friday (July 4), said that democracy in India is not just a political system, but it is a way for us to live life. PM Modi said, “I feel proud to be the first Indian Prime Minister to talk to you in this prestigious House.” He said that today both countries stand as a glorious democracy and strong pillar in the modern world.
In a joint meeting of Trinidad and Tobago Parliament, Prime Minister Modi said, “There are many people (MPs) in this Parliament whose ancestors are from Bihar, which is the land of ancient republics.” He said, “There are centuries -old relations between the two countries. We are empowering women for the creation of modern India.”
Describing terrorism as an enemy of humanity, PM Modi said that the global community should unite to give it a shelter or no place. Prime Minister Modi has also announced that this Caribbean country will be a priority country for India.
He said, “Terrorism is an enemy of humanity. This ‘Red House’ has seen the wounds of terrorism and blood flowing. The Prime Minister thanked the people and the government of the Caribbean country for standing with India in the fight against terrorism.
‘Global South’ always our priority: PM Modi
PM Modi further said, “Terrorism is an enemy of humanity. Trinidad and Tobago will be a priority country for us. We see our development as a responsibility for others.” He said that ‘Global South’ will always be our priority.
Earlier, PM Modi was awarded the ‘The Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago’, the highest civilian honor of Trinidad and Tobago on Friday. In the second phase of his visit to five countries, PM Modi, who arrived on a two-day visit to the Caribbean Island nation, was given this honor for his global leadership, his intensive engagement with Indian migrants and his human efforts during the Kovid-19 epidemic.
During this, PM Modi said, “I feel proud to be honored with the ‘Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago’. I accept it for 140 crore Indians.” The award was announced by Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Prasad Bisacer on Thursday, who described Modi’s visit as a moment of shared pride and historical relationship.
This is the first bilateral visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Trinidad and Tobago since 1999. PM Modi arrived here from Ghana. A day earlier in Ghana, Modi was awarded the national honor of the country with the ‘The Officer of the Star of Ghana’.

Addressing the joint session of the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “I feel proud to be the first Prime Minister of India to speak in this prestigious Lal Sadan. PM Modi said that people of this great nation have chosen two notable women leaders.”

– PM Modi further said, “Democracy for us Indians is not just a political model but a way for us to live a life. There are some members in this Parliament whose ancestors came from the state of Bihar, India, which is the land of the ancient republics.”
Referring to the cricket match, the Prime Minister further said, “I have to say that the Indian West Indies is one of the most enthusiastic fans of the cricket team. We encourage them wholeheartedly, except when they are playing against India.”
