More and more customers are shopping online. And if you find the way to the sales room, turn the turn twice every euro. It is noticeable that many customers buy cheaper, reports a seller on the TV show.

Between three and five percent fewer shoes were sold in the first half of 2025, confirmed Schuh dealer Ingo Hänel. Customers have become more careful compared to the previous year. The entrepreneur explains: “This comes from the general political world situation. Unfortunately, this changes every day, what and not always for the better. On the other hand, there is a saving for savings, and it is clearly noticeable in stores.”

According to a general survey by the HDE, 70% of the companies surveyed expect stagnation for the second after a difficult first half of the year. The federal government has to do more for trade, said HDE general manager Stefan Genth. Stability and clear decisions are expected – beyond the announced reduction in electricity tax.

In addition, trading demands that the non -wage costs to be reduced permanently to improve the sales situation of the companies.

Ingo Hänel: “We are the third largest employer in the country, we create a lot of training positions. We are often not seen. We are always the little light behind the industry.”
