More women at the top

Sport 2000 is actively involved as a founding member. CEO Margit Gosau has a significant impact on the structure and thus sets a clear sign of more diversity and future -oriented leadership in sports retailers. For them it is clear: “A variety of leadership is not a future topic, but a current necessity.”

The initiative was created in response to the still small presence of women in management positions in the industry – the proportion of female CEOs is currently around 8.5 %. GGS follows a clear strategy: with mentoring programs, exchange of knowledge and international visibility, female talents are to be strengthened and new role models are made visible. The launch event at Pentland Brands in London brought together industry representatives to discuss opportunities and challenges of female leadership in lectures and workshops. The initiative is supported by the World Federation of Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) and the Federation of European Sporting Goods Industry (FESI).
