Aaron Cain, who has been working for Nike for 21 years, becomes the new CEO of Converse in Boston and, after two years of term, replaces the previous president and CEO Jared Carver. Carver was at Converse for a total of 15 years, including in various management positions in North America and the EMEA region. In the course of his career at Nike, Cain held various positions in the company’s sports swear divisions in North America, Europe and Asia. He now moves his place of work from the headquarters of the group in Beaverton in the US state of Oregon to Boston.
In recent years, Converse has had a trouble to get sales growth going again. In the last eight quarters, the company has continuously recorded declining results. In the recent quarter alone, sales collapsed by 26 %. Return to the profit zone is therefore a significant challenge for management. Converse also increased the increasing competition in the global market for sports clothing. In an internal group, it says “Time is ripe for the next chapter in the development of the brand”.
