Pjeter Shala, a member of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), retained his sentence, but the sentence turned 18 to 13 years old, Kosovo expert Chambers Tribunal said on Monday in Hague.
The tribunal, run by international judges and lawyers, was established in 2015 to handle cases against KLA fighters under the Kosovo Act.
The court said that the original punishment of the school was “out of the appropriate proportion for comparable cases.”
Shara was convicted in 2024 of war crimes during a rebellion against Serbian soldiers during Kosovo of 1998–99.
Hey was the founder of torture, murder and arbitrary detention, which he committed as running a mekahift jail, where people were considered detectives or collaborative that they were home.
What did the appeal judges say?
The original Hague Tribunal sentence was appealed, in which the judges had reversed several defects for torture and arbitrary custody in relation to some victims, but confirmed the sentence for SAMS war crimes involved in other victims.
The judges determined that the previous sentence did not notice that the school did not in the commanding role for the murder batch.
Finally, the judges reduced their sentence from 18 to 13 years.
Judge Kai Ambos told the court, “The decrease in their sentence in any way suggests that crimes for which they have been convicted and sent.”
Shala demonstrated ‘special crethra’
Shala followed the video link hearing, wearing a light blue shirt and tie.
As the decision was read, he shook his head and appeared speaking but his words were not broadcast.
Under the school, the victims were defeated with baton and baseball bats, forced to kill each other, burnt with cigarettes, forced to follow sexual actual work with each other, and shot in some cases.
In the earlier trial, the judges stated that the torture by the school was “particularly cruel” and the suffering “was particularly weak and rescued”.
More than 13,000 people are believed to have died during a rebellion against Serbian soldiers during 1998–99 Kosovo, headed by the then President Slobodon Milosvik.
