According to the Turkish state media, the Mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglu, on Wednesday, sentenced the prosecutor to jail for an prosecutor.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s main political rival Imamoglu is putting trial Sion in jail on allegations of separate corruption.
Hey, one year and eight months should be sent to jail for insulting and threatening the Chief Prosecutor of Istanbul.
Under the Turkish law, the conditions of the jail of this Langath do not uniquely in disarray, but Imamoglu remains in pre-defying prevention on other allegations.
Why is Imamoglu assigned another jail word?
The case was aroused by Imamoglu’s remarks after a raid on the house of a young leader from his opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), when he said that Istanbul’s Chief Prosecutor, Akin Gurralak had at least “rotten”.
Imamoglu denied allegations against him and told broadcaster Hulk TV and other Turkish media: “I am fighting against the misuse of the judiciary and against its use as a political tool. It is actually an insult against our nation.”
This is not the first time that Imamoglu has been convicted of insulting the public office.
In 2022, he was sentenced to two years and six months in jail for criticizing the Election Board officials for the 2019 Istanbul elections to cancel the Istanbul elections, defeating the candidate from President Erdogan’s ruling Justice and Vikas Party (AKP).
Hey appealed for that sentence but has not yet been reviewed. If intact, the punishment may prevent Imamoglu from participating in future elections.
In March, Istanbul University canceled the diploma of the university of Imamoglu, without which he could not stand as a candidate for the President.
Since his arrest on March 19, the pressure in Türkiye’s opposition figures has been increasing, in which dozens of CHP mayors dismissed or expanded corruption charges.
The CHP denies allegations of corruption and calls him a government effort to overcome electoral threats against Erdogan, a charge by the government.
