The United States on Thursday nominated the group behind the April Pahgam attack in India, killing 26 people, as a terrorist organization.
The US now lists resistance front (TRF) as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO) and a specificly designated global terrorist (SDGT).
State Secretary Marco Rubio called TRF a “front and proxy” of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) and a nominated terrorist group.
Rubio said in a statement that the move reflects Washington’s commitment to terrorism and implements US President Donald Trump’s “call to justice” to the Pahgam killings.
US Move was seen as support for India
India welcomed the US decision, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar called it a “strong affinity” of Indo-US anti-terrorism cooperation.
In a statement, India’s Foreign Ministry (Mea) is “TRF’s designation at a time and important step which shows deep cooperation on terrorism between India and the United States,” Terrorism, ” The Indian Express The newspaper told.
Experts look at the US step as a sign of intensive support for India for the US in view of the April terrorist attack.

Pahgam attack targeted Hindu tourists
The Pahalgam attack of 22 April, in which 26 most Hindu tourists died in Indian administrator Kashmir, which was the deadliest to incorporate citizens in India since 2008.
