The protest after zleneksyy signs the bill to limit the autonomy of the anti -corruption watchman
Thousands of people gathered in late Kiev and other cities on Tuesday after President Voludmi Zelancesi signed a controversial bill to limit the autonomy of two anti -corruption bodies.
Change Prosecutors Generals provide cases to the new Authority and the cases handled by the National Anti -Corruption Bureau (NABU) and Special Anti -Corruption Prosecutor Office (SAPO).
Critics, including some European Union officials, say the step will weaken the freedom of the two agencies and will speak more and more on the investigation of Zelansky’s circle.
The two agencies said in a joint statement on Telegram, “In fact, if the bill turns into law, the head of SAPO will be called a nominal figure, while NABU would loose its freedom and turn into a subdivision of the prosecutor General’s office,” both agencies said in a joint statement on Telegram.
Tuesday’s protest, unusually more war -time rallies focused on achieving the return of capture soldiers or missing people.
The protesters gave indications that protect the future of Ukraine, “among other slogans.
“Corruption is a problem in any country, and it should always be Foht,” a blogger and activist Ihor Lachekov said, who provoked more than a million online followers to join the protests.
“Ukraine has very few resources compared to the Russia war,” said. “If we misuse them, or worse, allow them to end in the thieves’ pockets, then our chances of victory are reduced. All our resources should go towards the fight.”
