Clifer Curipaco, Health Director from Junin region in Peru, said the bus went on the road and fell into a ravine in Palka district.
Authorities were in the process of identifying 15 bodies, Aldo Tino said, a health officer of the Central City Terma.

How common are bus accidents in Peru?
Bus accidents in Peru are not uncommon. This is not the first deadly bus accident in Peru this year. In January, one bus fell into a river, killing 6 and 32 injured.
In 2024, according to police, about 3.173 traffic accidents occurred in the country.
A report from the Attorney General’s office found that negligence and excessive speed are the main causes of accidents in Peru. Poor road conditions are a reason.
Officers are investigating the cause of Thursday’s accident.
