Bus accident in Peru kills at least 15 – DW – 07/26/2025

Officials said the visit from Lima to La Merced city crashed on Friday, killing at least 15 and injuring around 30 others.

Clifer Curipaco, Health Director from Junin region in Peru, said the bus went on the road and fell into a ravine in Palka district.

Authorities were in the process of identifying 15 bodies, Aldo Tino said, a health officer of the Central City Terma.

Local television broadcast videos of the accident site, in which the bus was divided into two.

How common are bus accidents in Peru?

Officers are investigating the cause of Thursday’s accident.
